He is founder of the Storytrail Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 2015 to champion the untold stories of peace and justice.

At age of 13, Leggett heard Bob Dylan perform “Blowin’ in the Wind” on acoustic guitar. Says Leggett, “I was spellbound with his timeless melody and, most of all, his words. “

Soon after Leggett purchased a $13 guitar at the local Ben Franklin Department Store and started writing his own songs.

Today, Leggett has 70 songwriting credits under his belt and has performed his original tunes in all fifty U.S. states. His live music performances combine folk, rock and jazz sensibilities with a street-balladeer presentation style.

Since 1985, Leggett has produced more than 20 signature-events and national music tours that have raised more than $2.75 million dollars for food programs, peace literacy education and other humanitarian causes. Through the Better World Music label Leggett has distributed more than 100,000 copies of his recordings and published works.

As a popular speaker, entertainer and workshop leader, Jerry Leggett has appeared at numerous local, regional and national events.

The Peacebuilder Experience (PbX) is Leggett’s most recent brainchild. The PbX venue offers a versatile way for communities of any size to organize a peace education event that presents the core components of peacebuilding in today’s world.

Leggett served as the Executive Director of the Dayton International Peace Museum from 2014 to 2017. During these years, he collaborated with many organizations including the U.S Peace Corps, Rotary International, and the International Network of Museums of Peace (to name a few).

Jerry is an active member of the Tubac Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors of the Border Community Alliance (BCA).

One of Jerry Leggett’s greatest musical moments was a performance with the legendary Pete Seeger. Says Leggett, “in my playing and my everyday actions I hope to reflect the spirit of Pete who calls us to build a world where no one is ostracized and everyone has something to share.”
